Organization of “National Symposium on Conservation Horticulture” held at Dehradun from 21st to 23rd March, 2010

KVK, Dehradun (G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar) has taken initiative for organizing a three days “National Symposium on Conservation Horticulture” in collaboration with Indian Society of Horticultural Research and Development , Uttarakhand at Dehradun from 21st to 23rd March, 2010. The Scientists, students, enter pruners, progressive farmers, NGOs personnel have participated. The Sympopsium was inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. The recommendations which have emerged out from in depth deliberations and discussions among scientists, policy planners, developmental officials, stakeholders bankers, industry, NGOs personnel and progressive farmers on emerging issues and challenges of horticultural research and development in India were documented and distributed for further action.


Organization of Mid Term Review Workshop

Mid Term Review Workshop of KVKs G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand University of Horticulture and Forestry, Pauri Garhwal, Vivekanand Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan, Almora, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Bareilly was organized at rishi Vigyan Kendra, Dehradun from 25-26 November, 2013. During workshop Progress Report and Action Plan have been discussed thoroughly. Several recommendations emerged out from in depth discussion and presentation. The major recommendations were to introduced high yielding hybrids and varieties in commercially important agri-horticultural crops. It was felt that proper attention should be given on assessment and refinement. It was also realized that on farm trails should be conducted considering the requirement of genuine problems of the farmers. The multiplication of quality planting material in commercially important fruits and vegetables should be in the agenda of KVK. More emphasis need to be given on farmers scientist interaction to address the problems of the farmers. It was also pointed out that each and every KVK should ensure their participation with developmental departments, bankers, NGOs etc.
